Bobby Euris Campbell was born on July 31, 1930, in Kenly, North Carolina, to Glen Coy and Mozelle Campbell. He spent 70 years as a resident of the Peninsula area of Virginia and was a graduate of Morrison High School (now Warwick High School).

Bobby served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1949. His professional career included working for Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company (N.N.S.D. Co.) and later retiring from civil service as a transportation motor pool officer at Fort Monroe after 34 years. Fort Monroe was home to the Army's Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC). Outside of his professional life, he was a dedicated volunteer fireman at the Phoebus Fire Station for many years.

On September 1, 1951, Bobby married Norma Louise Kirk in Hampton, Virginia. Norma was born on December 3, 1933, in Bartley, West Virginia. Together, they had one daughter, Deborah Sue Campbell, born on March 13, 1952, in Virginia. Bobby and Norma's marriage ended in divorce on February 7, 1977, in Hampton, Virginia. An avid outdoorsman, Bobby found joy in boating, deep-sea fishing, freshwater fishing, hunting, and watching NASCAR. He was widely remembered for his generous and caring nature, often sharing his venison and fish with family and friends, always ensuring it was ready for cooking.

His willingness to "be there" for others was a defining characteristic.
