Guy is the son of Charles Myron "Jack" and Gurnie Patricia Stancil Crabtree. He grew up in Durham, North Carolina.

Guy graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with a political science degree. He earned a law degree with honors from North Carolina Central University (NCCU). Guy was admitted to the NC Bar in 1978. He is a partner with Pulley, Watson, King & Lischer, Durham.

He was selected for inclusion in “The Best Lawyers in America." He is active with the North Carolina Advocates for Justice. In 2012, Guy was elected president of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice.

Guy has served on the Board of Visitors for NCCU's School of Law. He is a member of the National Advisory Board of the Association of Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America.

Locally, he has served as chair of the Board of Trustees for the Carolina Theatre.

When not practicing law, Guy enjoys playing tennis and racquetball. He is a passionate Tar Heels and Red Sox fan.

Guy is the father of Patrick Todd Crabtree, twins Ashley Elizabeth Crabtree and Andrew Edward Crabtree.
