Gary Wayne Stancil was born on September 29, 1944, in Wilson, North Carolina, to Freeman Elbert and Gladys Lamm Stancil.

A lifelong resident of Samuel Branch, he was a dedicated father to Leia Janine Stancil Perry and Joseph "Jody" Ryan Stancil.

He spent over four decades building and remodeling houses, leaving a lasting mark on the homes and lives of many. Beyond his craftsmanship, Gary had a deep love for the outdoors, often spending his free time fishing and hunting.

Throughout his life, Gary shared his journey with three wives. He first married Glynda Ann Taylor on November 22, 1964, with whom he had a daughter, Leia. Later, on June 9, 1979, he married Sara Sellers, and they welcomed their son, Jody, in 1980. His final marriage was to Pamela "Pam" Joyce Horne on July 15, 1989, in New Hanover, North Carolina.

Gary was a beloved grandfather to Justyn, Emma, Aiva, Olivia, and Noel, and a great-grandfather to Cody. His family was an essential part of his life, shaping his legacy through generations.

Gary passed away on April 1, 2024, at Pruitt Health in Raleigh, North Carolina, at the age of 79.

He is remembered for his hardworking spirit, love for the outdoors, and the strong connections he built with his family and community.
